Public Relations/Marketing Intern
2013 PR / Marketing Intern
The Public Relations and Marketing Intern will assist the General Manager and apply basic public relations techniques and communication skills to promote the Eastern Music Festival’s 40+ concerts during the 2013 Summer Season. The PR/Marketing Intern will be involved in the preparation of press releases, the coordination of media coverage for the festival’s events, interaction with publicity representatives, public service announcements, internet coverage, mass email communication, media calls, print advertising, the distribution of collateral materials, and more. The PR/Marketing Intern will assist in duties on the campus at Guilford College and at the downtown office location of Eastern Music Festival.
Interns are encouraged to attend a wide variety of concerts, education programs, fundraising events, etc., to gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the artistic and administrative activities of the Festival. All interns will be assigned to projects outside of their position description. Each intern will work 40 hours/week with flexible hours (set by the intern’s immediate supervisor) during the week, evenings, and weekends.
Requirements:
Applicants must have excellent writing, communication, project management, leadership, and computer skills in MS Office products. Design skills are a plus. The successful intern should be highly motivated and possess a professional demeanor. He/she must be a self-starter who can take initiative to contact media and positively promote EMF. Experience in PR, creative marketing, and a knowledge of classical music or the performing arts are preferred. Applicants should have their own means of transportation while at the festival and a valid US driver’s license. The dates for this internship are June 17 (arrival date) through July 29, 2013 (departure date), plus part-time duties that can be completed remotely beginning May 13 (or earlier, if possible).
Stipend:
$800 + room and board
