Outreach Performance Intern

The Outreach Performance Intern will have the opportunity to assist in managing a series of informal community concerts throughout the Festival and coordinate groups to play for specific events. In addition, this intern will assist in the day-to-day operations of the student program.  Areas of experience include, but are not limited to, choosing and setting up performance venues throughout the Greensboro area; accurately and professionally communicating with contacts at each venue; coordinating with faculty chamber coaches concerning performance groups; communicating details with student groups; and executing all aspects of the run-out, including transportation, meals, marketing, and introductions of the student group. The Outreach Performance Intern will also assist the Admissions Director and Director of Educational Programs in all areas of student relations such as coordination of student events and educational programs for young children and adults, data entry and clerical duties, and managing student work study assignments.  As time permits, he/she will assist with Front of House duties at Festival events and in other areas as needed.
 

Interns are encouraged to attend a wide variety of concerts, education programs, fundraising events, etc., to gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the artistic and administrative activities of the festival. All interns will be assigned to projects outside of their position description. Each intern will work 40 hours/week with flexible hours (set by the intern’s immediate supervisor) during the week, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements:
Applicants should have excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills and experience managing groups of people (specifically students ages 14-22).  Applicants should possess organizational and time management skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and have an outstanding attention to detail.  Strong computer skills needed (includes Microsoft Access, Word and Excel as well as Internet and email proficiency).  Knowledge in classical music is essential.  Applicants should have their own means of transportation while at the festival, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and clean driving record.  Applicants must be 21 years or older.  The dates for this internship are June 18 (arrival date) through July 30, 2012 (departure date).

 

Stipend:
$700 + room and board
