Classically-trained percussionist and audio engineer, Catherine Cole works to expand repertoire and resources for percussionists while advancing her skills as an accomplished ensemble performer. A versed orchestral musician, Catherine spent the summer of 2017 at the Eastern Music Festival, having been awarded the Percussion Fellowship. She performed as a section percussionist with both the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra for three seasons. She is a three-year alumnus of EMF’s student orchestras and frequently participates in seminars and conventions across the country. Catherine has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) numerous times, most notably with the Eastman Percussion Ensemble in 2017 and the PAS All-Star International Percussion Ensemble in 2015.

An advocate for new music, Catherine actively seeks collaboration with composers who create new sound combinations for percussion. Since 2012, Catherine has premiered twenty works for solo percussion, percussion ensemble, and mixed chamber ensemble, and is currently a member of multiple consortiums. Her ensemble musicianship can be heard on four critically acclaimed chamber percussion albums, as well as upcoming releases by the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Eastman Philharmonia.

Catherine is an in-demand audio producer, working to increase the volume of professional recordings of percussion repertoire. An assistant engineer and producer for Garnet House Productions, LLC, she has produced eight albums of chamber percussion music, including over twenty premiere recordings. In 2018, Catherine completed a Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, graduating with an Arts Leadership Certificate. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Florida State University in 2016. Her primary teachers have included Michael Burritt, John Parks, Jim Ross, and Charles Ross.
