JEFFREY KAYEis an internationally acclaimed orchestral and chamber musician, soloist and teacher. Jeff is Artistic Director, Principal Trumpeter and featured Soloist for The Symphonia, Boca Raton. He performs frequently with

many South Florida ensembles including the Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Opera and the Festival Orchestra Boca. He is a core member of Michael Stern’s Iris Orchestra in Germantown Tennessee, where he has been a featured soloist. Jeff also leads the highly acclaimed Florida Brass and Jeff Kaye & Friends Jazz Quintet.

Jeff held the position of Principal Trumpet of the Florida Philharmonic from 1989 to 2003. He was also Principal Trumpet of the Florida Grand Opera, the Florida Philharmonic Pops Orchestra and the Miami Chamber Orchestra.

Mr. Kaye is presently on Faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University teaching Applied Trumpet and Trumpet Pedagogy. He hasalso served as Professional in Residence in Trumpet and Jazz studies at Louisiana State University and taught Jazz Studies as well as Applied Trumpet. Jeff also performed with the Norem Brass Quintet. Prior to Jeff’s appointment at LSU he spent two years as Artist in Residence at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Kaye served as Trumpet Professor at the New World School of the Arts in Miami where he received the “Teacher of the Year Award”. He also was the coach for the New World Brass Ensemble.

Jeff has been on the EMF faculty since 2009. Prior to that he was Principal Trumpet at Santa Fe Opera for 4 seasons. Other summer engagements include Aspen Music Festival, Waterloo Music Festival, Norfolk Music Festival/Yale Summer School of Music, and the Tanglewood Music Festival where he was a fellow and played under Leonard Bernstein.

Jeff received both a Bachelors of Arts in performance and a Bachelors of Science in Music Management from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. He was then awarded a talent scholarship by the Manhattan School of Music in New York where he earned a Masters Degree in Music Performance.

Jeff’s music can be heard on several recordings. Most notably is the award winning Florida Philharmonic CD recording of Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony which received critical acclaim, notably for the Blumine movement: “The Blumine is especially welcome for the ineffably cool, poised tones of principal trumpeter Jeffrey Kaye.” - Orchestral Reviews BBC music magazine.
