JONATHAN LIVIOCO (viola) started playing the violin at the age of eight. Born and raised in the Philippines, he has been a featured soloist with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and he has served as concertmaster of several orchestras, including the UMass Amherst Symphony Orchestra and the Opus One Chamber Orchestra. He also was a second violin principal for the Asian Youth Orchestra, which toured key cities in South Korea, China, and Japan. Livioco’s main teachers include Elizabeth Chang and Kathryn Lockwood at the University of Massachusetts, where he was a recipient of the Graduate String Quartet Assistantship. Currently, he is a viola graduate student and teaching assistant of Timothy Deighton at the Penn State University School of Music.
