JOY BRANAGAN is an active orchestral horn player based in the Washington, D.C., area. During the 2019-2020 season, Branagan is playing with the St. Louis Symphony, the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, and going on tour to Asia with the National Symphony Orchestra. She was acting fourth horn of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra from 2017-2019 and acting second horn of the National Symphony Orchestra from 2012-2016. She has also held permanent positions in the Vancouver Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Richmond Symphony, and Albany Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral schedule, Branagan has a private teaching studio and has been on the faculties of Towson University in Maryland and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She was a faculty member of Bar Harbor Brass in Maine for ten summers and has taught and performed at Eastern Music Festival since 2007. In February 2018, Branagan was a featured guest artist at the Southeast Horn Workshop in Athens, GA. She has a degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia and a Master of Music in Orchestral Performance from Manhattan School of Music.
