Karen Blundell

Eastern Music Festival alumnae, KAREN BLUNDELL is the English horn player of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. She performs regularly with the Allentown and Springfield Symphony Orchestras and freelances throughout New York City. Blundell has performed with many orchestras including the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, Florida Philharmonic, Houston Ballet Orchestra and the Houston Symphony. 

Prior to moving to New York, Ms Blundell was second oboe/English horn with the Sarasota Orchestra and is a former New World Symphony Fellow. Internationally, she has served as solo/ principal oboe with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City and has performed in the Cayman Islands, St. Croix, Panama, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, China and Japan. 

Ms Blundell served as Director of Community Engagement for the New World Symphony where her programs reached thousands of student and adult learners throughout greater Miami. She has presented master classes and seminars to a variety of organizations including Rotary International, the Roads Scholar program, the International Double Reed Society, Sister Cities Essex/Haiti and Sigma Alpha Iota. Blundell holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and the Hartt School of Music. She has studied with James Caldwell, Alex Klein, Humbert Lucarelli and Robert Atherholt.
