Sarah Cornett is currently a graduate student fellow and teaching assistant at Texas Tech University working towards a degree in viola performance under the tutelage of Dr. Kimberly Sparr. While at Texas Tech, Ms. Cornett performs as a violist with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and the Elysian String Quartet, of which she is a founding member. In addition to being a string fellow at the Eastern Music Festival, Ms. Cornett has enjoyed performing with orchestras and festivals across the country including the National Orchestral Institute, Chautauqua Summer Music Festival, National Music Festival, and Wintergreen Summer Music Academy. She received her undergraduate degree in both viola performance and music education at The University of Michigan where she studied with Detroit Symphony Orchestra musician, Caroline Coade. Ms. Cornett is a native of Richmond, Virginia where she first began studying viola in her middle school’s orchestra. In addition to performing, Ms. Cornett also enjoys training for and running in half-marathons and other races.
