Karen Birch Blundell : English Horn

Karen Birch Blundell, English horn, is pleased to return for her eighth summer at the Eastern Music Festival.  Mrs. Blundell lives in New York City where she is an active freelancer and teacher.  Previously, she held positions with the Sarasota Orchestra, the New World Symphony and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria.  She has performed with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Florida Orchestra, the Florida Philharmonic, the Naples Philharmonic, the Houston Symphony, and the Houston Ballet. She has been featured as a solo artist in Russia, St. Croix, Mexico and Panama and has also performed internationally in China, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and the Cayman Islands.  In addition to her active career as a performer, Mrs. Blundell is a dedicated teaching artist.  She has presented informances to thousands of school children and adult learners and was the Director of Community Engagement for the New World Symphony in Miami.  She holds degrees from Oberlin conservatory and the Hartt School where she studied with James Caldwell and Humbert Lucarelli, respectively.
