EMFkids: Camps

EMFkids Camp

This camp caters to a young child's natural curiosity and desire to learn. EMFkids will have constant interaction with EMF faculty and students. Each day, campers will explore music through a variety of activities including instrument demonstrations, rehearsal visits, singing, and receiving an introduction to melody, harmony, and rhythm. The week culminates with attendance at an EMF orchestral performance. All children are welcome to register, and acceptance is not based on musical background or experience. Curriculum and instructors are provided by The Music Academy of North Carolina.

Visits to the Orchestra

EMFkids campers take daily trips to the orchestra, where a professional conductor gives a short introduction to each instrument family – strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. EMFkids campers will be up-close and personal with some of the nation's top student orchestral musicians. These info-sessions give children a once in a lifetime experience.

  • Explore music through movement
  • Learn basic rhythmic notation by writing and feeling rhythmic patterns
  • Create speech and rhythmic ensembles
  • Discuss and explore the characteristics of music through movement, playing instruments, and listening to music
Take a Trip to the Music Academy

On Friday, visit the Music Academy of North Carolina located near downtown Greensboro to experience each instrument family of the orchestra in new ways!
