2017 FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER

The Front of House Manager is responsible for key pieces of day-to-day operations at Eastern Music Festival, primarily as they relate to concert preparation, patron services and ticketing/box office.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Front of House Manager will work with Festival staff to seamlessly produce and manage each public event (concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals); train and supervise the Assistant Front of House Intern and the student usher and parking crew students (ages 14-23); assign and communicate usher crew schedules; communicate with volunteer ushers; oversee patron seating and safety; assist with patron ticketing and ensure the delivery and distribution of EMF playbills and other printed materials at all concert locations.  In addition, the Front of House Manager will oversee merchandise sales at concerts, pre-concert brass group performances, pre-concert lectures (Musically Speaking) and post-concert CD signings/Meet the Artist events (as needed.)

The Front of House Manager will interface with administrative and operational staff (Stage Manager(s), Marketing Director, Director of Admissions/Education), work-study students and colleagues (Social Media/Marketing Team, Marketing Intern, Outreach Intern, etc.), and liaise with contracted Ticketing/Box Office staff.

The Front of House Manager will work full-time on a flexible schedule during the week, evenings, and weekends throughout the Festival.

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have excellent leadership, interpersonal skills and experience managing groups of people (specifically students ages 14-23) and experience in customer service. Applicants should possess organizational and time management skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and have an outstanding attention to detail. Strong computer skills needed (includes Microsoft Word and Excel as well as the use of social media). Front of house experience and knowledge in classical music are recommended but not required. Applicants should have their own means of transportation while at the festival, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and clean driving record. Applicants must be 23 years or older.

All summer staff members are encouraged to attend a wide variety of concerts, educational programs, fundraising events, etc., to gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the artistic and administrative activities of the Festival. Summer staff may occasionally be assigned to projects outside of their position descriptions, as needed.

Preference will be given to candidates who are age 23 or older. A valid U.S. driver’s license, and clean driving record is required.

SALARY: $2,000 stipend, plus room and board (Cafeteria Meal Card OR $300 Food stipend. Please indicate choice)

ARRIVAL DATE: June 19, 2017

DEPARTURE DATE: July 31, 2017
