THANKS FOR A GREAT SEASON!

Festival Orchestra Series

Led by Maestro Gerard Schwarz, the Eastern Festival Orchestra features some of the most extraordinary orchestral and chamber musicians from around the globe.  World-renowned classical soloists join them on Saturdays for five magical evenings performing everything from the classics to a world premiere.  This series, in Dana Auditorium at Guilford College, is made possible through the generous support of Lincoln Financial Foundation.  All concerts begin at 8pm, with musical preludes at 7:15 on the front lawn.  To learn more about each evening’s performance, join us for Musically Speaking at 7pm in the Moon Room at Dana Auditorium.

Young Artists Series

The Young Artists Orchestras are comprised of EMF’s outstanding pre-professional musicians.  These gifted students, ages 14-22, come from around the world to study and perform in Greensboro.  Each week, you will hear them rise to the challenge of an increasingly demanding repertoire.  They will perform under the baton of four great conductors and six amazing soloists.  During week five, young artists are the featured soloists in our Concerto Competition Winners concerts.

music of remembrance

4PM Lecture by Mina Miller, founder and artistic director

Music of Remembrance has the unique mission of preserving the musical legacy of Holocaust musicians and ensuring that this music is played throughout the world today. For the organization ’s first appearance in North Carolina, EMF faculty and young artists will perform works created by musicians imprisoned in Nazi concentration camps as well as contemporary composers, including EMF’s Music Director Gerard Schwarz, who have given voice anew to the power of the human spirit.

The appeal of this performance extends beyond the Jewish Community to all who have experienced persecution and to those who seek tolerance.
