ANTHONY ANURCA is in his tenth season with Eastern Music Festival. During the year, he plays with his hometown orchestra, the Jacksonville Symphony, in the second bassoon and contrabassoon seat. He has served on faculty at the University of Florida and Jacksonville University. He earned a Bachelor of Music at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and was a fellow at the New World Symphony. His principal teachers include William Winstead, Martin James, Nancy Goeres and Brad Buckley. He has presented at the International Double Reed Conference: IDRS 2015 Tokyo, Japan, performed his arrangement of Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer and Schubert’s Ave Maria and the IDRS 2016 Columbus, Georgia, commissioned Piotr Szewczyk’s, River City Triptych, for four bassoons and contrabassoon and performed with the UF bassoon studio. This year, he will give a masterclass focusing on improvising with electronics at the IDRS 2019 in Tampa, Florida. He has recorded with various singer-songwriters and can be heard on albums by Rickolus: Rivers and Lakes, American Backyard, Coconut and Troubadour; Gabe Darling: The Sky’s a Woman and Broken Teeth; and Radical Face: The Family Tree: The Leaves. Anthony is an EMF alum.
