Catherine Cary

CATHERINE CARY (violin) Catherine Cary joined the EMF faculty in 1999 and is a member of the Richmond Symphony, the Richmond Chamber Players and performs with the Williamsburg Symphony. She joined the Richmond Symphony (under music director George Manahan) in 1994, and was appointed to third chair in the first violins. During her tenure in Richmond, Cary served one and a half seasons as assistant concertmaster. A graduate of Temple University’s Boyer College of Music, Cary studied violin with Yumi Ninomiya Scott and William de Pasquale. Helen Kwalwasser, Orlando Cole, Lambert Orkis and Jeffrey Solow were Cary’s primary chamber music mentors. Catherine has performed with the Harrisburg Symphony, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra. Catherine performed as a soloist with the Richmond Philharmonic in Brahms Double Concerto, with her husband, cellist Neal Cary. Recent performances with Neal include the duo by Gideon Klein as part of the Violins of Hope in Richmond, VA in September 2021.
