Jamie Hofman

JAMIE HOFMAN (viola) is a faculty member at the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he teaches String Pedagogy. He also serves as the head of the UWM String Academy. A graduate of Indiana University, Hofman earned performance degrees in both violin and viola, along with a performer’s diploma in viola. His teachers include Mimi Zweig, Jerry Horner, and Atar Arad.

Mr. Hofman holds the position of principal violist with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. Previously he has been a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, and the Louisville String Quartet.

Mr. Hofman’s festival performances include appearances at the Hirosaki Chamber Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, European Musik Festival, Jerusalem International Symphony Festival, Pacific Music Festival, Blossom Music Festival, and the Sarasota Music Festival. He was awarded second prize in the Chicago Viola Society solo competition and has been featured as a soloist with the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, the Catholic Symphony Orchestra, and on the Civic Music Artist and Ensemble series in Milwaukee.

Married to horn player Kelly Hofman, Jamie Hofman has been an EMF faculty member since 2005.
