JAMIE HOFMAN is a graduate of Indiana University, where he earned Bachelor of Music Performance degrees in violin and viola, as well as a performer diploma for viola. His principal teachers have been Mimi Zweig, Jerry Horner and Atar Arad. Hofman is on faculty at the String Academy of Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Carroll University. Hofman is principal violist of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and performs in the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra. He has been a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, and the Louisville String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at the University of Louisville where he was also on faculty. Hofman has performed at festivals such as the Hirosaki Chamber Music Festival, SchleswigHolstein Musik Festival, European Musik Festival, Jerusalem International Festival Symphony, Pacific Music Festival, Blossom Music Festival, and the Sarasota Music Festival. Hofman won the second prize in the Chicago Viola Society solo competition and has performed as a soloist in Milwaukee with the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, the Catholic Symphony Orchestra, and on the Civic Music Artist and Ensemble series. Hofman is married to horn player Kelly Hofman and has been on faculty at EMF since 2005.
