NICHOLAS BROMILOW is the Graduate Assistant of Orchestral Conducting at Kent State University, Ohio, USA. He studies under the director of the university orchestra, Professor Dr. Jungho Kim, and is expected to graduate with a Master of Music Degree in 2023. Bromilow has been the founding conductor and manager of many ensembles across Bristol, UK with an aim to bring classical music to various audiences outside of the concert hall. These include performances in Motion nightclub with Resonance Orchestra (2019) and in the underground vaults of the central station with the Insight Ensemble (2017).
After graduating from the University of Southampton in 2013, Bromilow’s career in the UK includes conducting positions with the Redland Green Choir, Burnham & Highbridge Choral Society, Long Ashton Orchestra, Bromley Heath Community Choir, West Mendip Orchestra, City Sound Voices of Bath, North Somerset Music Service’s Youth Orchestra, Andover Parkinson’s Choir and Ogmore Vale Choir. Guest conducting invitations have included the Bristol Ensemble, Bristol Chamber Orchestra, Petersfield Orchestra, Saltford Orchestra and Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra. Bromilow has been the assistant conductor to Edward Rhys Harry with the London Male Voice Choir festival in London’s Albert Hall (2016-8). The two performances culminated with a total of over eight-hundred singers.
As a singer, Bromilow has performed in large choirs with conductors Sir Simon Rattle, Marin Alsop, Edward Gardiner, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christoph von Dohnanyi and Juanjo Mena. Orchestras have included the Vienna Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
