ROSA ORTEGA IANNELLI (viola) is a violist, educator and juggler from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Born to a family of artists, Ortega Iannelli was enrolled in the Preparatory Program at the
Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico at a young age; they later went on to study at
the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, earning their Bachelor’s
degree under the tutelage of Dr. Ana Tsinadze and Kerri Ryan, Assistant Principal
Violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2023, Ortega Iannelli graduated from Lynn
Conservatory with their Masters in Music Performance and returned to Lynn to
continue their studies with Sheila Browne in the Professional Performance Certificate
program.
Ortega Iannelli is an avid chamber musician; they have participated in chamber music
intensives such as Techne Music and the Dali Quartet International Music Festival
Quartet Fellowship on full scholarship, and performed in the Miami Chamber Music
Society’s Mendelssohn Octet workshop with Joshua Bell. In 2023, their quartet the
Aurora Quartet won second place in the Lyric Chamber Music competition, hosted at
Lynn Conservatory. Their first graduate quartet, the Avanti Quartet, placed 3rd in the
Lyric Chamber Music Competition in 2021.
Ortega Iannelli performs regularly as a member of the Palm Beach Symphony, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, and they
are an alumnus of the Iris Orchestra Artist Fellows Program, where they had the
opportunity to work closely with the world class musicians of the Iris Orchestra and
ensemble director Michael Stern.
