SAMUEL JAMES (bassoon) is a bassoonist, educator, and performer currently residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Sam completed his Bachelor’s degree in Bassoon Performance at Baylor University, and his Master’s degree in Bassoon Performance at Southern Methodist University.

At Baylor University, Sam studied with Dr. Ann Shoemaker and performed with the Baylor Wind Ensemble, the Baylor Symphony Orchestra, and the Baylor Camerata. Sam has performed with several other groups in Texas, including the Waco Symphony, Avant Ballet Company, and the East Texas Symphony. He has been a member at Brevard Music Festival, PRISMA, and Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Sam currently studies with Professor Ted Soluri and performs with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.

Sam is currently working towards a Performance Diploma at SMU and is a private instructor at Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD and Keller ISD. In his free time, Sam enjoys cooking, spending time with his friends, and hanging out with his cat, Claude.
