PETER “SHANE” SAVAGE (double bass) is based in South Florida. He started his musical training at age five, beginning on violin and cello, before taking up double bass at age ten. Savage has been a participant in the Eastern Music Festival, National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, the Heifetz Summer Institute, and Colorado College Summer Music Festival. He has played in masterclasses for Eugene Levinson, Thomas Martin, Jeff Bradetich, and Edicson Ruiz, and has been mentored by Elmar Oliveira, Michael Klotz, and Samuel Suggs. Savage has performed with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, is a sub for the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, New World Symphony, and the Miami City Ballet, and is a member of the Palm Beach Symphony. He is the winner of the 2022 John Oliveira String Competition, being the first double bassist to win first prize.
Savage holds his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the Lynn University Conservatory of Music, and his notable teachers include Eugene Levinson and Timothy Cobb. A native of Florida, Savage grew up in Port St. Lucie and the Treasure Coast, and loves to freelance in his hometown.
