SUSAN MCCALLUM has been a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra since 2001. She received a Bachelor of Music with Honors from McGill University and a Master of Music at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. McCallum has performed across Canada with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, as well as with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brandon Chamber Players, Rainbow Stage, and the National Academy Orchestra, and in the U.K. with the Lancashire Sinfonietta. A chamber musician, she has performed at numerous venues across Canada including the Agassiz Chamber Music Festival, the Virtuosi Series at the University of Winnipeg, and at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. McCallum has also given recitals and chamber music concerts in the U.K. and has performed at several international music festivals including the Summer Academy at the Mozarteum University (Salzburg), the Lake District Summer Music Festival (U.K.), and at the Banff Centre for the Arts. McCallum has served on the faculties of both the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and the University of Manitoba Preparatory Studies. McCallum, who is in her second season with EMF, lives in Winnipeg with her husband, bassist Meredith Johnson, and their three children, Isla, William, and Bea.
