VAISHALI SHAH is a Lecturer in Finance for the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University and the Founder of Copper Seed, a financial coaching firm based in Winston-Salem, NC. At Elon, she teaches financial planning, wealth management, and risk management courses at the undergraduate level. Through Copper Seed she provides flexible, individualized, and affirming financial coaching to individuals and entrepreneurs. Copper Seed also provides financial education to employees through their workplace.

Previous to her time at Elon and Copper Seed, Vaishali taught in the Albemarle County School System in Virginia and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System in North Carolina. She worked at Piedmont Trust Company as an advisor and then a trust officer for about 10 years.

Vaishali enjoys supporting local professional and nonprofit organizations that make our community better. She served as a coach for Future Fund 10 (2019-2022); as a member of the Professional Advisors Committee of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (2017-2021); as a Regional Advisory Board member of NCCEE (2021-2023); and on the Board of the Greensboro Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professional (2015-2021). She’s excited to join the Board of Eastern Music Festival.

Vaishali holds a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia, a Master of Teaching degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an MBA from Wake Forest University. She is a CFP® Certificant and a CAP® Certificant. When Vaishali is not coaching, teaching or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, especially traveling together. She loves to run, practice yoga, and spend as much time outdoors as possible.

Vaishali was introduced to Eastern Music Festival during the spring of 2021 when Lou Ann Flander-Stec asked her to conduct a financial education seminar for students that summer. Vaishali fell in love with the program both through her interactions with students during the educational session, but even more so in attending their performances. She continues to deliver the financial education session, looks forward to work with alumni, and is honored to join the board.
