VICTORIA LIN (cello) is currently undertaking a Master of Music in cello performance at New York University under the instruction of Julian Schwarz. She also completed her undergraduate studies in cello performance at New York University with Marion Feldman. She began her cello studies at age 7 in Australia before moving to Houston during her high school years where she studied with Mark Yee. Lin has been the principal cellist of the NYU Orchestra for the past five years and has been active in other NYU ensembles such as the Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Baroque Ensemble as well as the Broadway Orchestra. Lin has also had the opportunity to perform at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, the DiMenna Center with ensembles such as the American Composers Orchestra, the Little Orchestra, and the New York Pops.
She is a founding member of the Kompass quartet who were the 2023 Young Artists in residence with the Craftsbury Chamber Players. There, the quartet performed alongside principal players from ensembles such the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony and the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra in the Craftsbury Chamber Players concert series. Kompass are passionate about performing works by underrepresented composers and are also active in performing and premiering contemporary pieces.
Lin frequently collaborates with composers from NYU and has appeared in recording sessions with artists like Lenny White and Charlie Morrow. Lin has played masterclasses for Wendy Sutter, Amit Peled, Natalie Clein, Michael Nicolas, Jakob Kullberg, Hannah Holman, and Nicholas Perkyns.
